Starting January 1st 2017, Suzhou will implement the strictest ban ever on fireworks. In a recent memo issued by the government, it says no fireworks are allowed for any sort of celebrations in the below restricted areas. The official government firework celebrations were not mentioned, so it is assumed they are exempt from the ban.
The restricted areas include:
Wujiang District: Songling Ancient Street (East to the Canal, west to Luxiang Lu, south to Lize Lu and north to Jiangxing Lu).
Wuzhong District: Area 1 (South to the Canal, north to Meichang River, east to Dongqing Lu and west to Panli Lu). Area 2 (South to Huchang Highway, north to Shihu Lake, east to Suzhou Wan Dadao and west to Longxiang Lu).
Xiangchang District: North to Taiyang Lu, Huangli Lu, Yangchanghu Xilu, south to Huning Highway, east to S227 Shengdao, west to Guangji Beilu, Yongfang Lu and Sudai Lu.
Gusu District: The entire district.
SIP: South to Dongfeng Dadao, Xiegang, Dushu Lake west bank, Xinggang Jie, Dushuhu Dadao, north to Loujiang Speedway, east to Zhonghuan East Ring, west to Donghuan Lu.
