In 1924, a concert entitled “An Experiment in Modern Music” met with a critical reception in Broadway: Rhapsody in Blue, particularly, made George Gershwin the first composer ever to introduce jazz into classical music. He followed this direction further in An American in Paris, a perfect fusion of blues and Parisian elements, as well as Porgy and Bess, the emotional entanglements between an African-American beggar and a street girl in Carolina.
The Suzhou Symphony and its trio of jazz soloists brings the magic of Gershwin to Suzhou.
    Alessandro Lanzoni:Piano
Alessandro Lanzoni is a young Florentine pianist awarded with manifold prizes: the “Best New Talent at Top Jazz 2013” of Musica Jazz, “Best Young Soloist” of the “Martial Solal” International Jazz Piano Competition in Paris. He, together with Matteo Bortone (double bass) and Enrico Morello (drums), founded the “Alessandro Lanzoni Trio” and released several sought-after albums, including Dark Flavour (CAM JAZZ) and Seldom (CAM JAZZ). In “Siena Jazz” National Academy of Jazz, Alessandro, Enrico and Matteo met and immediately understood one another.
His training as a musician is the result of an intense journey, developing in two directions:  His “classical” studies led to his Diploma of Piano obtained in 2012 and the Distinction and Honourable Mentions at the Cherubini of Florence Conservatory with Giovanna Prestia as the music instructor. After this came a period of further jazz studies under the supervision of L. Pieri and M. Grossi, which was followed by summer courses of Siena Jazz and those of Berklee at Boston, where he was able to take advantage of high level teaching by Masters of the caliber of Danilo Perez, Kenny Werner, Aaron Goldberg, Steve Kuhn, John Taylor, Franco D’Andrea, Stefano Battaglia, Danilo Rea. On the other hand, as proof of an unusual versatility as a musician, Alessandro took up the study of cello and composition which will lead to a specialist Degree in Composition and Jazz Arrangement at the Conservatory of Florence.

    Matteo Bortone: Double Bass
Double bass player/composer, Matteo Bortone is making a name for himself among the rising talents of the newest jazz generation, not only as an instrumentalist but also as a composer and bandleader, expecially after being awarded as “Best New Talent 2015” in the annual poll held by the journalists of italian jazz magazine Musica Jazz.
Italian but musically raised in Paris, where he earned a Jazz Master Degree at highly-respected Conservatoire Nationale Superieur (CNSM), Matteo leads two bands: ClarOscuro, a brand new trio with pianist Enrico Zanisi and drummer Stefano Tamborrino, as well as Travelers, a French/Italian quartet with saxo player Antonin-Tri Hoang, drummer Ariel Tessier and guitarist Francesco Diodati. With Travelers, Matteo released two albums: his debut in 2013 (“TRAVELERS” Zone di Musica Label) has been highly-welcomed by international press, receiving some important awards as “Révélation Jazzman” and “Jazz Découverte” in France as well as “Jazzit Likes it” in Italy. The album was also unanimously nominated among one of the “Best Jazz Releases in 2013” by Italian magazine JAZZIT. Born in Rome in 1988, he soon approached the music and began to devote himself to the battery of nine years, highlighting a great deal of creativity. His jazz formation started at the Folk Music School of Testaccio in Rome to continue with important teaching experiences: Siena Jazz Summer Seminars during which he was selected to attend additional Masters with Enrico Rava and Gianluigi Trovesi.
